Description of the program implementation
The Digital Humanities degree program is structured around the following components:
- Complete compulsory courses and elective courses, including optional courses according to the specialized education option chosen - the student must complete all courses in the curriculum, both compulsory and elective, including courses related to: digital tools, digital humanities theory, research methods in digital humanities, digital technology ethics and copyright law. Students follow two course paths (the general course path in Year I (common to all students) and one of two elective course paths in Year II). The general class path in Year I is devoted to working methods in digital humanities, programming and Internet technologies. In Year II, students choose one of the paths offered: philology or digital editions.
- Completion of 60 hours of professional internship in institutions involved in the digitization of culture, analysis of humanities data, creation of digital content, digital archiving, and related areas.
- Preparation of a master’s thesis in the form of a digital project, accompanied by written documentation describing the project's goals, methods, and results. The thesis should address one of the following areas: digitization of cultural heritage, application of digital tools in the humanities, ethical issues related to digital technologies, or the implementation of a practical project using digital tools in the fields of culture, education, or media.
To complete the program, students must earn 120 ECTS credits. Graduates are awarded the professional title of Master.
Graduation
A key requirement for graduation is the preparation of a master’s thesis in the form of a digital project with its written description. The thesis should involve research in one of the following areas: digitization of cultural heritage, the application of digital tools in the humanities, ethical issues in the context of digital technologies, or the implementation of a project involving the practical use of digital tools in culture, education, or media. Students must also pass a final diploma examination, which consists of: a) A presentation of the results of the thesis before an examination board, b) Responding to questions related to the thesis topic and general knowledge in the field of digital humanities. The diploma examination is graded and contributes to the student’s final degree result. The final grade is based on the assessment of the thesis and the student’s performance during the examination. Graduates are awarded the professional title of Master.
